We are within less than a week, so the caucus stuff is about over and we will be back to a better variety of stuff besides politics- music, books, comics, sports, movies, etc.
Two news stories dominate today's headlines in Iowa, and here they are.
Rick Santorum has risen to third in one of the most recent polls.
It is hard to guess how accurate that is, as Santorum's support in recent polls has been up to 10% or in some instances lower than Jon Huntsman (who pulled the Sununu card "Iowa picks corn, New Hampshire picks Presidents").
The CNN poll released yesterday has:
Romney 25%
Paul 22%
Santorum 16%
Gingrich 14%
Perry 11%
Bachmann 9%
Huntsman 1%
Like Jesse "The Body" Ventura said "The scum rises to the top." Tim Pawlenty sits in his Minnesota home saying "Gawdammit so much".
The other big news is that Michelle Bachmann's campaign manager has left and joined Ron Paul.
it's the kind of turncoatery that only happens in Pro Wrestling.
Still, I am not surprised. It's the kind of campaign maneuvering I would expect from said Campaigner. Interestingly, while I don't know that the person (State Senator Kent Sorenson) will gain much in the long run, if local Conservative radio is any barometer, Sorenson (who suffers from "Shaved heads don't work for everyone" Chris Daughtery syndrome) has probably lost his seat by offending Bachmann supporters and others who see it as a personal move.
The added twist is that Bachmann claims (and some others have come forward) that it was purely driven by money.
“Kent Sorenson personally told me he was offered a large sum of money to go to work for the Paul campaign,” Bachmann told reporters. “Kent said to me yesterday that ‘everyone sells out in Iowa, why shouldn’t I,’ then he told me he would stay with our campaign. The Ron Paul campaign has to answer for its actions.”
Here, I thought the Bachmann campaign was so dead-ended, he got out while he can. Maybe, he got a nice payday out of it as well.
