Well, it's been six months, we know what barry and Willard are doing, but how about everyone else? Well, we know what Rick Santorum has been up to. He was just in Iowa for two days on his Santorum in 2016 Thank You tour. The others?
Thad McCotter - Thad had a great idea. You see the Ames Straw Poll is based on the idea on who spends the most money gets the biggest piece of real estate. Thad plunked down $18,000 to try his theory out. he failed miserably. Things have went from bad to worse for Thad. He made headline news when it was discovered that his staffers had forged signatures to get him on the ballot for his Congressional re-election. Not a couple of "Mickey Mouse"s or "Donald Ducks", as many as 85% of signatures on his petition were forged. Thad up and resigned from Congress earlier this month. I would say that this would be the worst thing that can happen to a Congressman, but let's face it. Prior to this year, most people thought Thaddeus McCotter was a Civil War general. There is no thing as bad publicity.
Bonus fact: I looked up McCotter on wikipedia to verify some of my facts, and found this gem:
A month later, on July 5, The Detroit News reported that McCotter had spent much of the time since his presidential campaign failed writing a television pilot script for a comedy/variety show starring himself, to be called Bumper Sticker: Made on MoTown
Buddy Roemer - Remember Buddy. He was a Democrat governor turned Republican. The lone Republican who embraced the Occupy movement. We knew he was doomed, We just didn't realize how doomed (17 votes. Less than non-candidates Sarah Palin and Herman Cain. Roemer had his eye on a 3rd party run first eyeing the Reform Party nomination and later, Americans Elect. One would think that the time would be prime for a third party candidate (Obama is struggling, and a lot of the far right hate Romney) in 2012, but the subject seems to be dead. In any case he's packed it in. there will be no roemer on the 2012 ballot. Americans Elect- that brilliant idea to come up with a 3rd Party candidate by doing online voting. They gained access to 28 states,, but in May, they said "To hell with this" and are ditching the idea.
Michele Bachmann - Bachmann's campaign had an epic crash and burn. Don't worry, she's back out on the beat, doing Michele Bachmann things, like claiming the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the US government. It's good to have her back. As a serious candidate, she hcouldn't just say any crazy thought that crossed her mind. Bachmann has been busy supporting Willard and try to sell him to Tea Partiers. She has denied she is running for Vice President (Oh, she would run if asked, I am sure.) Of course, we all know that phone call isn't going to happen.
Rick Perry- Oh, I would like to say Rick Perry was never seen or heard from again, but sure enough , there he is in the headline news today. Perry is asking for Romney to release his tax returns. Perry probably wasn't sure the question he was being asked would put him in that place, but sure enough, there's the quote "No matter who you are or what office you are running for, you should be as transparent as you can be with your tax returns and other aspects of your life so that people have the appropriate ability to judge your background."
Perry likely should have towed the party line, but to his credit he said whatever he thought. For starters, I watched Perry get flambéd by Romney's Superpac, and so Perry doesn't owe Willard anything. Second, if you're going to be on the record saying Obama needs to release his College Transcripts (Collegers are the new Birthers), then you should be consistent when asked about tax returns.
