In the umpteenth evolution of this blog, i have decided that it is in my best interest to write shorter and more often. Like twitter, 7 Minute Abs, and Fortune 500 companies, it's hip to downsize. So that's where I am headed, and like when you used to order a new box of checks (ask your parents), I am picking an arbitrary high number to start the series.
Today, I am talking RAGBRAI- not a competition but an open event in which bicyclists bike across the state. You can choose to do it one day or the whole week. At night, about 22,000 cyclists stop in towns that may not normally have 20,000 people living there.
Still, as I have grown older, i realize activities like this and marathons may be about more than the athletic aspect. RAGBRAI is equally known for the partying, with the nights usually ending with a concerts or other manners of towns rolling out the red carpet.
Or Dwarf Wrestling.
The Longest Yard Sports Grill owner Brain Filloon told the Des Moines Resister he's looking for "something different for entertainment." He said he was asked to come to the city council meeting to discuss his bar's plans for the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. RAGBRAI passes through the area on July 23rd.

City Council Member Terry Gibson says dwarf wrestling would cast a negative light on Dallas Center. Mayor Mitch Hambleton says he has heard complaints about how the show might affect the city's image.
I never did hear what the town decided, but last I knew, the event was on.
